Suddenly I wanted an ultra cute blog template, Well , not suddenly, I always wanted to change my blog template - never got around to doing it. One of the things I want to learn is to make my own blogger templates.
Till then, as the inspiration to aspire to, there are the beauuuuuutiful, super-cute templates at Gis and Birdie - just breath-takingly beautiful. Thank you to all the people who make beautiful things and share them on the web...
Also, Some Crocheted bits and Pieces as I learn to crochet. So far I learnt only 3 stitches - chain, single crochet and double crochet - always on the lookout for things I can make with just these...

Tagged :)
Just saw I was tagged..ya, I know, its a bit late
Better late that never, so heres 7 things about me :)
1. Beading for me started with a box of almost 25 year old plastic beads. Someone found this box of beads in our grandparents house and mummy had the diary in which she had written the instructions for a beaded purse some 25 years back. We spent months trying to decipher the instructions - and one day mummy got it!! we finished half the purse together, me working evenings and mummy during the day and then somehow, it got laid aside..2 years later, after mummy died, i found the half done purse and finished it. I was googling to find out if any one else makes purses the same way we did (which I couldn't by the way, seems to be some variation of a bead weaving stitch, maybe RAW? ) - and the rest is history...
2. Mummy used to sew from a very young age..she used to try to pester me to learn sewing-i thought i was no good at anything with my hands...in the last one year - ive learnt beadweaving, bead embroidery, made beaded flowers, crocheted, fabric painted, learnt to use grandmas 30+ year old sewing machine...life is unpredictable :)
3. I HATED the needlework classes i had a chance to learn - sewing at one school, knitting at another. Me & the knitting teacher were on very very bad terms. :D Same for games :)
4.I used to read and read and read....we bought very less books when I was a kid...all the books were from libraries..one day I dream of owning a huge library..I even have a list of books ready and bought 3 books this year :)
5. some days are very very depressing as I prepare for a fight aganist certain "things" - I know I am doing the right thing - but somedays I am scared of the pain it may cause - hope & pray everything turns out ok.
6. 24 years of indoctrination - I still didn't get rid of my "secular" mind :D - no matter what I can't get my mind to accept anyone who says "OURS is the way that GOD says - everyone else is going to hell - or atleast a lower place than us".
7. i work as a software engineer - i love the "problem-solving" work - hate some of the other things about it- and wonder if teaching will suit me :)

Bracelet in October colours...
These were to be my october colors for the bjp. Unfortunately, I started a bracelet with the very same beads. I am very happy with the bracelet, my first attempt at a bead embroidered bracelet, but the result is I've got bored with these colors... gotto to find new colors for October page...
The photos dont show the color really well..and a note to self is to colour the background before working with dark colors...
Remembrance....
Pansies are the flowers of memories...thats why i gave them as a gift.
To memories in the past..and the more beautiful memories of the future..

September BJP done
I'm happy with the way the center turned out. Unhappy with the way the borders and filler lines are so crooked. I won't be attempting beading in a straight line for a long time, I guess :)
It started out as a bead renedition of the "athapoo" (roughly, a flower carpet). The athapoo or pookalam is an integral part of Onam, the biggest festival in Kerala's calendar. This year Onam fell in September and it was during the height of the celebrations that I started this. Picture of a real one
The athapoo center came out beautifully :) the fabric puckered up somehow and made a very lovely looking flowery center.
I realised I wouldn't be able to bead anything else in September, exams and too much work, so to make it part of my BJP - I decided to mount the athapoo onto ATC size. Added those terrible crooked straight lines, the center looking more flat :( - not happy me!!!
But comforting myself that the center still does look ok- will have to just do better next time :)
stone age mobile cam pics :). Progress pics are here....
